HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Steven Light of 
4
Salem on being nominated a 2007 Healthy Smile Hero; the Heroes 
5
are nominated by their community for going above and beyond the 
6
call of duty to  provide oral healthcare in rural and 
7
underserved areas in Illinois; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Dr. Light is a lifelong resident of the State, 
9
born and raised in Watseka; he is a 1987 graduate of the 
10
University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He is a member of the American Dental Association, 
12
and the Illinois State Dental Society, and is a former 
13
president of the Wabash River Dental Society; he has a private 
14
practice in Salem; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Dr. Light serves on the board of directors of the 
16
Salem Activities and Community Center and the Amy Center in Mt. 
17
Vernon; he is on the Youth Council at Grace United Methodist 
18
Church, and serves as youth leader for the senior high class; 
19
he also serves as the dentist for Bryan Manor, a facility for 
20
the developmentally disabled; and

    WHEREAS, The ceremony for Dr. Light and other nominees will

be held on October 10, 2007 in the Howlett Building in 
2
Springfield; Dr. Light resides in Salem with his wife, Tammy, 
3
and his sons, Zeke and Lucas; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
congratulate Dr. Steven Light on this honor and wish him the 
7
best in his future endeavors; and be it further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to Dr. Steven Light as a symbol of our respect and 
10
esteem.
