| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the faculty, |
| 4 |
| staff, and students of Link Elementary School in Elk Grove |
| 5 |
| Village on the occasion of being named as one of the top |
| 6 |
| schools in the nation at the U.S. Department of Education's No |
| 7 |
| Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School ceremony in November of |
| 8 |
| 2007; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools |
| 10 |
| program recognizes schools that make significant progress in |
| 11 |
| closing the achievement gap or whose students achieve at very |
| 12 |
| high levels; the program selects schools with at least 40 |
| 13 |
| percent of their students from disadvantaged backgrounds that |
| 14 |
| dramatically improve student performance on state tests or |
| 15 |
| schools whose students, regardless of background, achieve in |
| 16 |
| the top 10 percent of their state on state tests; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Link Elementary School was one of 287 schools in |
| 18 |
| the nation named a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School in |
| 19 |
| 2007; Link School was selected as a school that achieves in the |
| 20 |
| top 10 percent of Illinois schools on the Illinois Standards |
| 21 |
| Achievement Test (ISAT) given each spring; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, The mission of Link Elementary School is to |
|

| inspire every student, "to think, to learn, to achieve and to |
| 2 |
| care"; the school has committed itself to helping students |
| 3 |
| develop the capacity for learning so that they can live |
| 4 |
| effectively in a complex and diverse world; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, In recognition of the progress Link Elementary |
| 6 |
| School has made, the school will receive an award certificate |
| 7 |
| as part of the Blue Ribbon Schools program; Principal Barbara |
| 8 |
| Schremser and sixth-grade teacher Katie Schneider will travel |
| 9 |
| to Washington, D.C., for the official awards ceremony on |
| 10 |
| November 12 and 13, 2007; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The dedication and capability of the faculty and |
| 12 |
| staff of Link Elementary School is invaluable to the efforts of |
| 13 |
| the State of Illinois to provide the best education for its |
| 14 |
| children; therefore, be it
|
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 16 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 17 |
| congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Link |
| 18 |
| Elementary School on being named a No Child Left Behind Blue |
| 19 |
| Ribbon School and wish them continued success and happiness in |
| 20 |
| the future; and be it further
