HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Susan Vaughn on 
4
receiving the 2007 Belle Greve Memorial Award; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Susan Vaughn works as a Pre-Vocational 
6
Coordinator at South Eastern Special Education; she has strived 
7
undauntedly to improve the Secondary Transitional Experience 
8
Program (STEP) for the students in a five county area serving 
9
twelve high schools; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Susan Vaughn has worked for numerous years with 
11
children with disabilities, kids that have significant 
12
behavior disabilities, and young adults developing and 
13
learning job skills; Susan has enhanced the program, where 
14
students are expected to achieve their best and often live up 
15
to those expectations; her drive and enthusiasm have expanded 
16
the number and the level of disabilities served by her program, 
17
while also expanding the services provided to those students; 
18
and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Susan Vaughn presents workshops on Transition, 
20
Summary of Performance, and the STEP program; she attends State 
21
workshops gathering pertinent information to enable her to 
22
build on her knowledge; and

    WHEREAS, She is co-chair of the local TPC and has spent 
2
hours working on the development of a Transition Resource Book 
3
covering the local counties; her dedication has helped students 
4
with disabilities have a more successful transition from 
5
adolescence to young adulthood; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Belle Greve Memorial Award is presented to a 
7
person who has shown unusual initiative or creativity in 
8
developing and/or administering a service program for people 
9
with disabilities; the award is named for Belle Greve, founder 
10
of the Cleveland Rehabilitation Center; therefore, be it

 
11
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
congratulate Susan Vaughn on receiving the 2007 Belle Greve 
14
Memorial Award; and be it further

 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to Susan Vaughn as a symbol of our respect and 
17
esteem.
