| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to recognize the citizens of |
| 4 |
| Germantown on receiving the Governor's Home Town Award for |
| 5 |
| 2007; the awards banquet will be held November 27, 2007 at the |
| 6 |
| Crown Plaza Hotel in Springfield; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, After many years of rotating a Veterans Day |
| 8 |
| celebration from one community to another in Clinton County, |
| 9 |
| the Germantown city council decided to seek some alternative to |
| 10 |
| honor the veterans in a more permanent and special way; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, It was decided to give medals to all the veterans, |
| 12 |
| or to members of the deceased veterans families; on November |
| 13 |
| 11, 2002, the medals were distributed and proudly worn by |
| 14 |
| veterans and family members; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, In 2003 the idea of a permanent monument to |
| 16 |
| veterans was discussed by the town mayor, Gerry Kohnen, and a |
| 17 |
| local respected veteran, Jerome Eversgerd; after determining |
| 18 |
| location, cost, and design, the plans for the monument came |
| 19 |
| into being; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and members |
| 21 |
| of the community, the Village of Germantown now has a memorial |
