HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are saddened to  learn of the death of
Hamp 
4
Robinson, Jr., who passed away on September 28, 2007; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Hamp Robinson, Jr. was born on March 2, 1937 in 
6
Tribbett, Mississippi; his parents were Hamp Robinson, Sr. and 
7
Estella Robinson; he married Lee Anna Reed on November 9, 1957 
8
in Inverness, Mississippi; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Hamp Robinson, Jr. was educated in the public 
10
school system in Mississippi; he moved with his family from the 
11
south to Chicago in 1968; he worked at Spiegel in Chicago from 
12
1968 until Spiegel's relocation away from Illinois in 1996, 
13
when he worked for Greater Chicago Auction until his retirement 
14
in 2006; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Hamp Robinson, Jr.  received Christ as his Lord and 
16
Savior in 1980 and was baptized at the Kingdomland Missionary 
17
Baptist Church; in 1981, he relocated to the New Faith 
18
Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained until his passing; 
19
he was well known in the church for his faith and love for the 
20
Lord and his followers; and

    WHEREAS, Hamp Robinson, Jr.  was preceded in death by his

son, Carl; his parents, Hamp, Sr. and Estella; his brothers, 
2
Cleveland, Sammy, Ellis Earl, Charlie, and Henry; and his 
3
sisters, Margaret and Maybell; and

    WHEREAS, Hamp Robinson, Jr. is survived by his wife, Lee 
5
Anna; his daughter, Pamela; his granddaughter, Lakeisha; his 
6
god-daughter, Alicia; his god-granddaughter, Alissa; his 
7
brother, Johnny Robinson; his sisters, Sally Pearl Billingsly, 
8
Louise Johnson, and Laura Robinson; his 2 brothers-in-law and 8 
9
sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and 
10
friends; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Hamp 
14
Robinson, Jr.; and be it further

 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to the family of Hamp Robinson, Jr. as an expression 
17
of our sympathy.
