| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has served as an educator for |
| 3 |
| Community Consolidated School District 59, where she taught for |
| 4 |
| many years; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has always demonstrated the |
| 6 |
| highest degree of creativity, care, good judgment, and |
| 7 |
| enthusiasm during her tenure as an educator, thereby providing |
| 8 |
| commitment and direction to her students and colleagues; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has taught first grade and has |
| 10 |
| served as a reading resource and gifted education teacher at |
| 11 |
| Rupley School; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie taught math and literature and |
| 13 |
| composition at Friendship Junior High School; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has been vital to the quality of |
| 15 |
| excellence provided by School District 59 and Elk Grove |
| 16 |
| Village; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie was the first teacher in District |
| 18 |
| 59 to earn National Board Certification, the highest honor in |
| 19 |
| the teaching profession; and
|
|

| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has been involved in the |
| 2 |
| development of The Character Counts program for the district's |
| 3 |
| schools; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie served for two years in the |
| 5 |
| Instruction Department as Teacher Leader for Staff Development |
| 6 |
| and as coordinator of the Character Counts! Initiative; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie expanded the outreach of the |
| 8 |
| Character program by being instrumental in the formation of the |
| 9 |
| Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove, which includes |
| 10 |
| local businesses as well as government and community |
| 11 |
| organizations; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Birdie Bisceglie has been a devoted teacher since |
| 13 |
| she earned her bachelor's degree in education from Northern |
| 14 |
| Illinois University in 1970 and her master's in special |
| 15 |
| education from Northeastern Illinois University in 1974; |
| 16 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 19 |
| congratulate Community Consolidated School District 59 |
| 20 |
| educator Birdie Bisceglie on the occasion of her retirement and |
| 21 |
| thank her for her dedication to the students, parents, and |
| 22 |
| staff of School District 59; and be it further
