| WHEREAS, On February 13, 1858, James K. Cox, Nancy Cox, |

| Robert Cox, Anna Cox, William A. Langston, and Susannah |
| 4 |
| Langston caused to be surveyed and plotted in blocks, lots, |
| 5 |
| streets, and alleys, one hundred and ten acres of land to be |
| 6 |
| used as a Town to be known by the name of "Manito"; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, These individuals, through their generosity and |
| 8 |
| foresight, donated to the public that part of the town known as |
| 9 |
| "Broadway", which was reserved for the use of the Illinois |
| 10 |
| River Railroad Company, as well as land to be used for a |
| 11 |
| general depot, which caused the Town to be prosperous and |
| 12 |
| enduring; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, On February 13, 2008, the Village of Manito will |
| 14 |
| celebrate its 150th year; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, The citizens of Manito, along with their friends |
| 16 |
| and neighbors, will host several Sesquicentennial events to |
| 17 |
| commemorate their heritage; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The celebration of Manito's Sesquicentennial is a |
| 19 |
| once-in-a-lifetime experience that will be remembered by all of |
| 20 |
| its citizens, young and old; therefore, be it
