HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the citizens of the 
4
City of Park City on the occasion of the city's 50th 
5
anniversary; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The City of Park City began within the area of 
7
four mobile home parks, Murphy Brothers Mobile Home Park, Lake 
8
County Deluxe Terrace, Midway Mobile Home Park, and Gene's 
9
Mobile Home Park; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, The construction of a highway through a portion of 
11
the Murphy Brother's Mobile Home Park and the potential 
12
annexation of the four parks by the City of Waukegan prompted 
13
the move toward incorporation; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, A petition was filed in Lake County Circuit Court; 
15
the Court set a date for an election on the question of whether 
16
Park City should be incorporated; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, The election result was 331 for incorporation and 
18
58 votes against incorporation; on January 28, 1958, Park City 
19
was officially incorporated as a City in the State of Illinois; 
20
and

    WHEREAS, The first Mayor of Park City was Gene Palmieri, 
2
father of current Park City Alderman Jack Palmieri; the 
3
inaugural meeting of the City was held before 100 residents in 
4
attendance and culminated with the establishment of the city's 
5
police department; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The City of Park City has grown since its 
7
incorporation to include an additional manufactured housing 
8
community, Farmington Estates, and new single family 
9
subdivisions; and
 
10
    WHEREAS, The current population of Park City is 6,700 
11
people; the City is divided into three wards, with two aldermen 
12
serving in each ward; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, The current Mayor of Park City is Steve Pannell, 
14
the City Clerk is Beverly Roehr, and the City Treasurer is 
15
Richard Roehr; the Aldermen from Ward One are Julian Guerrero 
16
and David Aguirre, the Aldermen from Ward Two are Paul 
17
Christensen and Jack Gilmore, and the Aldermen from Ward Three 
18
are Betty Humphrey and Jack Palmieri; therefore, be it

 
19
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
20
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
21
congratulate the citizens of the City of Park City on the 
22
occasion of the city's 50th anniversary and wish them continued

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

presented to Park City Mayor  Steve Pannell as a symbol of our

esteem and respect.
