| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The Village of Oswego was settled in 1833 and will |
| 3 |
| be celebrating its 175th anniversary; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, In 1837, Oswego consisted of about 30 wooden |
| 5 |
| buildings and early roads from Joliet to Galena and from |
| 6 |
| Chicago to Ottawa; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Oswego was settled in part for its transportation |
| 8 |
| potential at the confluence of the Waubonsie Creek and the Fox |
| 9 |
| River; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Over the years, Oswego has continued to flourish; |
| 11 |
| the 1990 U.S. Census showed the population at 3, 875; the 2004 |
| 12 |
| Speical Census counted nearly 20,000 residents; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, To commemorate the 175th anniversary of Oswego's |
| 14 |
| founding in 1833, the citizens of Oswego plan to celebrate |
| 15 |
| Oswego's rich history with events such as a Birthday Party |
| 16 |
| Celebration, Old Time Games held during PrairieFest, and |
| 17 |
| OswegoRama, a weekend-long celebration commemorating Oswego's |
| 18 |
| heritage; therefore, be it
