HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kerry R. Sheridan of Shorewood, who passed away on February 12, 2008 at age 75; and

WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan served as Fire Chief of the Troy Fire Protection District for the past 48 years and was considered a founding father of the Volunteer Fire Department in Troy Township; and

WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan served on the Will County Board since 1982 and was President of the Will County Forest Preserve District, where he was the driving force behind the purchase of land to create open areas for the public; and

WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan was Chairman of the Will County Local Emergency Planning Committee and a member of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association and the Joliet Junior College Fire Science Advisory Committee; he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of V.F.W. Post 1080 and Elks Lodge 296; and

WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna M. Sheridan; his two daughters, Diane McLelland and Patricia Sheridan; his two grandchildren, Kerry and Colin McLelland; his brother, John F. (LaVonne) Sheridan; and his several nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond J. and Dorothy M. Sheridan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Kerry R. Sheridan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kerry R. Sheridan as a symbol of our sincere sympathy and respect.
