HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the owners of Uno, 
4
the champion beagle bred and born in Belleville, on the 
5
occasion of the dog's Best in Show title victory at the 132nd 
6
Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, In his 13-month dog show career, Uno has won 32 
8
best-in-show titles and finished as the sixth-ranked show dog 
9
in the nation in 2007; he was named the 2007 Hound of the Year 
10
and the 2007 Beagle of the Year; in December of 2007, he won 
11
the hound group at the AKC/Eukanuba show in Long Beach, 
12
California and was the first beagle to win the ProPlan Top Show 
13
Award of the Year; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, Uno beat out two poodles, a Sealyham terrier, a 
15
Weimaraner, an Australian shepherd, and an Akita to become the 
16
first beagle to win the Best in Show title at the 132nd 
17
Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York, New York; Uno 
18
also won the distinction of being the first beagle to win the 
19
hound group at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show since 1939; 
20
and

    WHEREAS, Uno is co-owned by Kathy Weichert of Belleville, 
22
Caroline Dowell of Texas, Eddie Dziuk of Columbia, Missouri,

and Jon Woodring of North Carolina; and

    WHEREAS, Uno's unprecedented victory at the Westminster 
3
Kennel Club Dog Show has thrust him into the spotlight, giving 
4
him fame that will certainly be bolstered by many other 
5
victories in the future; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
congratulate the owners of Uno on the occasion of the dog's 
9
Best in Show title victory at the 132nd Westminster Kennel Club 
10
Dog Show and wish them continued success in the future; and be 
11
it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13
presented to Kathy Weichert, Caroline Dowell, Eddie Dziuk, and 
14
Jon Woodring as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
