HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gladys Davis of 
4
Danville on being honored as the 2008 Woman of Achievement by 
5
the Danville Branch of the American Association of University 
6
Women; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, She began her career at the East Central Illinois 
8
Community Action Agency and is a volunteer and works part time 
9
at Laura Lee Fellowship House; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, She has organized activities for seniors, 
11
tutoring for children, a read-in, plays, a comedy hour, and 
12
many other activities for all ages; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, The award is given to a woman who displays 
14
excellence in her field, is recognized by the community, has 
15
made significant contributions to the community and has a 
16
long-established reputation; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, She is retired from her full-time position at 
18
Danville Area Community College, but continues to teach and 
19
cover other duties as the cultural education coordinator at 
20
Laura Lee Fellowship House; and

    WHEREAS, Gladys Davis received a grant and a job at 
2
Danville Area Community College while she attended Indiana 
3
State University, earning a bachelor's degree in education with 
4
a minor in psychology; she taught psychology at Danville Area 
5
Community College and she earned her master's degree in 
6
education from the University of Illinois; therefore, be it

 
7
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9
congratulate Gladys Davis on receiving this award and wish her 
10
the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

 
11
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to Gladys Davis as a symbol of our respect and 
13
esteem.
