| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Edwin L. |
| 4 |
| Kay of Chicago, who passed away on February 23, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Edwin Kay was born on November 30, 1926 in |
| 6 |
| Chicago; he was the eighth of twelve children born to Marion |
| 7 |
| and Hattie Kay; he grew up in Hyde Park and attended Kenwood |
| 8 |
| Elementary School; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He was drafted into the United States Army and |
| 10 |
| served two years in World War II; he worked as a contractor, |
| 11 |
| then with the Teletype Corporation, followed by employment with |
| 12 |
| the City of Chicago as a civil servant driving trucks; he then |
| 13 |
| started his own maintenance company called Kay's Home |
| 14 |
| Maintenance; in addition to managing his own business, he also |
| 15 |
| worked as a consultant at the University of Chicago's Smart Art |
| 16 |
| Gallery; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Edwin L. Kay is survived by his wife, Patricia A. |
| 18 |
| Kay; his children, Lawrence, Patricia E., Ramona A., and Mark |
| 19 |
| A.; his brother, Richard Kay; his sister, Julia Ann |
| 20 |
| Kay-Liddell; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; his |
| 21 |
| nieces and nephews; and a host of loving relatives and friends; |
| 22 |
