| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Erin Barry of |
| 4 |
| Ambassador Girl Scout Troop 804 on the occasion of winning the |
| 5 |
| Gold Award from the Girl Scouts organization; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The Gold Award is the highest recognition that a |
| 7 |
| Girl Scout can obtain; the award is equivalent to the rank of |
| 8 |
| Eagle awarded by the Boy Scouts; to earn a Gold Award, a girl |
| 9 |
| must meet several requirements, including leadership projects, |
| 10 |
| career exploration, meeting challenges to learn about herself |
| 11 |
| and the world around her, earning four interest projects, and |
| 12 |
| the completion of a community service project of over 60 hours; |
| 13 |
| and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, For her Gold Award project, Erin Barry chose to |
| 15 |
| help families that live in shelters due to domestic violence or |
| 16 |
| homelessness; she has spent over 8 months collecting donations |
| 17 |
| of art supplies that can be stored at various shelters for the |
| 18 |
| children there to use or keep; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Erin Barry is currently a senior at Lincoln Park |
| 20 |
| High School in the International Baccalaureate program; she |
| 21 |
| plans to pursue a career in teaching and has a great passion |
| 22 |
| for art; she plans to attend college either in Minnesota or at |
