HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, "JR in the Mornings" was a staple in the Rock River Valley, always providing a voice to the voiceless, an ear to local events, an outlet for community discussion of hot-button issues, and an unmatched dedication to listeners; and

WHEREAS, A true radio pioneer, John "J.R." Rohwer wielded memorable impact upon the Rock River Valley community throughout his 40 plus years on the air; and

WHEREAS, The number one radio broadcaster in the Valley challenged his listeners to discuss difficult issues, like the closing of the local steel mill, for the benefit of the community; and

WHEREAS, The son of a Navy veteran-turned-radio man and an Illinois farm girl with a knack for radio engineering, John "J.R." Rohwer is a man of faith, known for his sensitive nature and introspective depth; and

WHEREAS, As the devoted father of Jim and Matt, Mr. Rohwer treasured special moments with his beloved sons, teaching them the lessons of life while fishing or playing baseball or football; and

WHEREAS, As a gifted intellectual, Mr. Rohwer crafted award-winning editorials, played classical piano beautifully, and published intriguing short stories; and

WHEREAS, "J.R." always went the extra mile, often arriving at 2:00 AM to prepare for his show, repair the station's equipment, and help anyone with anything they required; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor John "J.R." Rohwer on the occasion of his outstanding career and a life well lived; he left an indelible imprint on Illinois broadcasting and will forever be remembered for his integrity, his intelligence, and his passion for life; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to John "J.R." Rohwer as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
