HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4
Lewistown High School Tube Band on being awarded the Ethel 
5
Percy Andrus Legacy Award for Innovation in Education by AARP; 
6
and

 
7
    WHEREAS, On April 18, 2008, AARP will hold a formal 
8
ceremony in the Lewistown Community High School auditorium to 
9
present Band Director Clay Ginglen and the members of the Tube 
10
Band with a monetary award; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The Tube Band is known across the State of 
12
Illinois for using PVC pipe, sewer hosing, and kitchen spatulas 
13
to present a multi-media production; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, The Tube Band has performed in the rotunda of the 
15
Illinois State Capitol to much acclaim; and
 
16
    WHEREAS, The Superintendent of Lewistown School District 
17
97 is William J. King; the Principal of Lewistown Community 
18
High School is Gavin Scronce; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, The instruments played include the Tenor Tubulum, 
20
the Bass Tubulum, the Drumbone, the Tentacles, the Spectacle,

the Tube Shaker, and the Tube-tron 2000; and

    WHEREAS, The members of the Lewistown High School Tube Band 
3
are Josh Ginglen, Bobby McKenzie, Kelsey Vaughn, Kierstin 
4
Hadsall, Gage Myers, Alex Little, and Kaitie Roberts; 
5
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
congratulate the Lewistown High School Tube Band on being 
9
awarded the Ethel Percy Andrus Legacy Award for Innovation in 
10
Education by AARP and wish them continued success in the 
11
future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13
presented to the Lewistown High School Tube Band in honor of 
14
their achievements and as a symbol of our respect.
