HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Auburn Knights 
4
of Auburn High School in Rockford on the occasion of winning 
5
the IHSA Class AA Scholastic Bowl Championship; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, During the IHSA Class AA Scholastic Bowl 
7
Championship in Peoria, the Auburn Knights complied a record of 
8
4-0, beating Homewood-Flossmoor, Sandburg High School, and 
9
Wheaton-Warrenville North in the preliminary round; in the 
10
final round, the Auburn Knights defeated Adlai Stevenson High 
11
School 234-197 to take the IHSA Class AA Scholastic Bowl title; 
12
the team finished the season with an astounding 89-9 record; 
13
and

 
14
    WHEREAS, The Auburn Knights' victory makes the first time 
15
that a member of the Northern Illinois Conference (NIC-10) has 
16
won a Scholastic Bowl title; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, The co-captains of the Auburn Knights Scholastic 
18
team are John Brown and Sivakumar Sundarm; the team's coach is 
19
Linda Greene and the school's principal is Richard Jancek; 
20
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

congratulate the Auburn Knights of Auburn High School in 
3
Rockford on the occasion of winning the IHSA Class AA 
4
Scholastic Bowl Championship and wish them continued success 
5
and happiness in the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to Auburn Knights Scholastic team coach   Linda Greene 
8
as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
