HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Marilyn K. 
4
Finnegan, principal of Chippewa Elementary School in Palos 
5
Heights, on her accomplishments and her many years of service 
6
to the educational community; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Ms. Finnegan earned a Bachelor of Science degree 
8
in Education with a Special Education major from Chicago State 
9
University in 1973; she went on to earn a Master's degree in 
10
Special Education from Chicago State University in 1974; in 
11
1982, she completed her studies at Loyola University, receiving 
12
her Administrative K through 12 General Administrative Type 75 
13
Certificate from the State of Illinois; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, She began her teaching career in September of 1973 
15
at Navajo Elementary School with a fourth grade special 
16
education class; she continued to teach within the school 
17
district for the next eleven years; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, She was named principal of Navajo Elementary 
19
School by the District 128 Board of Education in 1984; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, During her 35 years with District 128 she has been 
21
involved in numerous community activities, including being a

member of the Trinity Christian College Advisory Board for many 
2
years; and

 
3
    WHEREAS, Her philosophy about the education of children has 
4
been grounded in her firm and sincere belief that all children 
5
can learn and are entitled to a superior education that will 
6
allow them to experience the best possible quality of life; and 
7
that children who are properly nurtured and challenged can and 
8
will excel; she has been a strong advocate of the importance of 
9
positive  self-image and high expectations from children; 
10
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
congratulate Marilyn K. Finnegan on her accomplishments and her 
14
35 years of service to the educational community; and be it 
15
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17
presented to Marilyn K. Finnegan as a symbol of our respect and 
18
esteem.
