HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4
Whitney Young High School Dolphins girls basketball team on the 
5
occasion of winning the IHSA Class 4A Girls Basketball State 
6
Championship; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The Whitney Young High School Dolphins girls 
8
basketball team defeated Bolingbrook High School at the Redbird 
9
Arena in Normal 54-45 to win the IHSA Class 4A Girls Basketball 
10
State Championship on March 1, 2008; the team ended the season 
11
with an impressive 30-3 record; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, The members of the Whitney Young High School 
13
Dolphins girls basketball team are Kiara Conner, Kara Smith, 
14
Porsha Harris, D'Frantz Smart, Ashlee Anderson, Yasmeen Reed, 
15
Krista Haldes, Chanise Jenkins, Mariah King, and Gillian Asque; 
16
the team's head coach is Corry Irvin and the assistant coach is 
17
Deryl Carter; and

    WHEREAS, The Whitney Young High School Dolphins girls 
19
basketball team serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and 
20
dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, 
21

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

congratulate the members of the Whitney Young High School

Dolphins girls basketball team on the occasion of winning the 
5
IHSA Class 4A Girls Basketball State Championship and wish them 
6
continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
