HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, State Representative Elga Jeffries of the 26th District and the members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor the first inductees of the Hales Franciscan High School Donald Hubert Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, The Hall of Fame is named for Hales Franciscan alumni Donald Hubert, who attended the school in 1967; he founded the Hubert Law group, served as president of the Chicago Bar Association, and was the chairman of Hales Franciscan's $15 million fundraising campaign; and

WHEREAS, He is remembered for persuading former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan to contribute to the schools renovation plans; Mr. Hubert passed away in November of 2000; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hubert (posthumously), along with fellow alumni Derrick Blakley (1971), William Owens (1977), Erick Rozier (1970), and Warner Sanders (1953) will be the first inductees into the Hall of Fame named after Mr. Hubert; and

WHEREAS, Friends of Hales, Joseph Buckhalter, John and Rita Canning, Reverend Phil Hogan, Michael Miller, and Michael Jordan, will also be inducted into the Hall; and

WHEREAS, Hales Franciscan is one of only three schools in the country built to serve an all-male, African American Catholic student body; the induction ceremony will also celebrate the groundbreaking for a new school; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the inductees and their families on being inducted into the Hales Franciscan Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the inductees and their families as symbols of our respect and admiration.
