HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Victor Edwin 
4
Oswald Valli, DVM, as he leaves his position at the University 
5
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to begin a new career at the 
6
University of California; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Dr. Valli has been Professor of Pathobiology at 
8
the College of Veterinary Science since 2001; in that time he 
9
has encouraged and counseled many young students toward their 
10
right career path; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He has previously taught at the University of 
12
Guelph in Ontario; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, He received his DVM degree in Veterinary Science 
14
at the University of Toronto, Ontario Veterinary College in 
15
1962; and  his Masters in Clinical Pathology in 1967 and his PhD 
16
in Pathology in 1969, both at the University of Guelph, School 
17
of Graduate Studies, Ontario Veterinary College; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, He has received many professional awards and 
19
honors, including First in Class Honors four times, the F.W. 
20
Schofield Prize in Pathology, the Andrew Smith Gold Medal for 
21
General Proficiency, the Arnold Nasco Prize, the Salo Jonas

Prize Surgery, and the James H. Rattray Prize for First in 
2
Class; and

    WHEREAS, He authored the book Veterinary Comparative 
4
Hematopathology, and has published several articles in medical 
5
journals; therefore, be it

 
6
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
congratulate Dr. Valli on his move to California and thank him 
9
for his service to the students of the University of Illinois 
10
at Urbana-Champaign; and be it further

 
11
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to Dr. Valli as a symbol of our sincere respect.
