| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Candice Parker on |

| the occasion of being the first player drafted in the 2008 WNBA |
| 5 |
| Draft; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, A 2004 graduate of Naperville Central High School, |
| 7 |
| Candice Parker has proven to be an exceptional basketball |
| 8 |
| player throughout her career, having been compared to |
| 9 |
| basketball greats such as LeBron James; as a member of the |
| 10 |
| University of Tennessee's basketball team, she scored 17 points |
| 11 |
| and 9 rebounds during the team's 64-48 national championship |
| 12 |
| victory over Stanford; she put on this great performance |
| 13 |
| despite the fact that she was nursing a shoulder that she |
| 14 |
| separated a week earlier against Texas A&M; and

| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Candice Parker was picked as the number one draft |
| 16 |
| choice during the WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks; she |
| 17 |
| will graduate from the University of Tennessee in May of 2008; |

| and

| WHEREAS, Candice Parker serves as a model of hard work, |

| integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
