2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Roy | ||||||
4 | LaSalle Sues of Park Ridge, who passed away on April 4, 2008; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Roy Sues was trained as an engineer; he retired as | ||||||
7 | the director of engineering of a small company that made paint | ||||||
8 | finishing systems after 40 years of dedicated service; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Roy Sues was an active member of his community; he | ||||||
10 | was a past president of the Park Ridge Recreation and Park | ||||||
11 | District; he served as a park commissioner from 1989 to 1997 | ||||||
12 | and then from 1999 to 2003; he also served as board secretary | ||||||
13 | in 1991 and 1995, as vice president in 1992 and 2002, as | ||||||
14 | president in 1993 and 2001, and as treasurer in 2000; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, During his tenure on the board, Roy Sues was | ||||||
16 | involved in many civic projects, including the Thor-Guard | ||||||
17 | Lightning Prediction System, a stage addition at the Senior | ||||||
18 | Center, the Prairie Restoration Project, the creation of a | ||||||
19 | Skate Park, the Emerson School Field Project, and the | ||||||
20 | installation of automatic doors at the Senior Center; he had | ||||||
21 | served on the original committee to form the Park Ridge Senior | ||||||
22 | Center in 1979, and later served two years as president of the |

1 | center; he also aided in the construction of an addition for | ||||||
2 | the center in 1990; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Roy Sues was a recipient of one of the Park Ridge | ||||||
4 | Chamber of Commerce's Community Stars awards in January of 2006 | ||||||
5 | in recognition of his outstanding public service; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Roy Sues volunteered for more than two decades in | ||||||
7 | AARP's tax counseling program, which provides tax assistance to | ||||||
8 | senior citizens; he coordinated the outreach program at | ||||||
9 | Resurrection Retirement Community and assisted homebound | ||||||
10 | seniors with their taxes; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Roy Sues was a past master of the Park Ridge | ||||||
12 | Masonic Lodge; he was also a member of the Maine Shrine Club | ||||||
13 | and the Des Plaines Elks Lodge; and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Roy Sues was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
15 | Phyllis, and his daughter, Lynn; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Roy Sues is survived by his son, Lee (Bernadine) | ||||||
17 | Sues; his grandchildren, Jennifer Uzella and James Sues; his | ||||||
18 | great-grandchildren, Zofia, Christopher, Henry, and Conrad; | ||||||
19 | his sister, Anita (Robert) Sickel; and his many nieces and | ||||||
20 | nephews; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Roy Sues will be remembered by all who knew and | ||||||
2 | loved him for his sincerity, kindness, and professionalism; | ||||||
3 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
5 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
6 | mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Roy | ||||||
7 | LaSalle Sues; and be it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Roy Sues as an expression of our | ||||||
10 | sympathy.
