HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jan Polep, Head of 
4
Adult Services for the Crystal Lake Library, on her retirement; 
5
and

 
6
    WHEREAS, When Jan Polep began her career, there was no 
7
Internet, no iBistro, and the library still checked out 
8
phonograph records; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, She began working as the Children's Librarian in 
10
1970; after a brief sabbatical, she returned to the Children's 
11
Services area on a part-time basis; in 1977 she resumed a 
12
full-time schedule and began working in the Adult Services 
13
Department, in Nonfiction Reference, and later the Fiction/AV 
14
section; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Jan always looks for ways to improve the library, 
16
and to provide better ways to serve the patrons, and will be 
17
remembered for her innovation and service orientation; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, During her 38 years of service, she worked as a 
19
Youth Librarian, Reference Librarian, Interim Director, Head 
20
of Reference/Nonfiction, Head of Fiction/Audiovisual, and Head 
21
of Adult Services; and

    WHEREAS, She has been instrumental in the building 
2
additions added in 1984 and 1995 and has been a key member of 
3
the Library Management Team, as well as Project Shoehorn; Jan 
4
Polep will retire on June 13, 2008 from the library; therefore, 
5
be it

 
6
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8
congratulate Jan Polep on her retirement and wish her the best 
9
in her future endeavors; and be it further

 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to Jan Polep as a symbol of our respect.
