1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mr. Gerald W.

4 Fogelson of Chicago on the occasion of his 75th birthday; and

5 WHEREAS, Gerald Fogelson is the Founder and President of

6 The Fogelson Companies and the co-chairman and CEO of the

7 Central Station Development Corporation; and

8 WHEREAS, He began his career while a senior at Lehigh

9 University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, building houses; and

10 WHEREAS, Mr. Fogelson took the Illinois Central Railroad

11 Station in Chicago and redeveloped it into one of the largest

12 urban developments in the nation; he was recognized for his

13 efforts with induction into the Chicago Association of Realtors

14 Hall of Fame in 2003; and

15 WHEREAS, He was an early pioneer of the planned unit

16 development and paved the way for mixed use projects; he has

17 developed rental apartments, office buildings, industrial

18 parks, shopping centers, marina properties, and themed

19 communities throughout his career; and

20 WHEREAS, He is the author of Central Station: Realizing a

1 Vision, which chronicles the revitalization of Central

2 Station; and

3 WHEREAS, Mr. Fogelson is a member of the Board of Trustees

4 of Mt. Sinai Hospital; a trustee of Roosevelt University; a

5 member of the Near South Planning Board; co-chairman of the

6 Board of Advisors and founder of the Chicago School of Real

7 Estate at Roosevelt University; and involved in numerous civic

8 and philanthropic efforts; therefore, be it

9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

10 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

11 congratulate Gerald W. Fogelson on his milestone birthday and

12 wish him health and happiness; and be it further

13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

14 presented to Gerald W. Fogelson as a symbol of our respect and

15 esteem.
