| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Officer Alton |
| 4 |
| Parker Jr. on the occasion of his retirement from the Belvidere |
| 5 |
| Police Department on July 1, 2008; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Officer Alton Parker Jr. began working for the |
| 7 |
| Belvidere Police Department on January 30, 1982; he served as a |
| 8 |
| detective, school resource officer, D.A.R.E. officer, and |
| 9 |
| patrol officer during his 26 years of distinguished service; |
| 10 |
| and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Officer Alton Parker Jr. was the recipient of |
| 12 |
| numerous commendations for his service to the citizens of |
| 13 |
| Belvidere; he received two Commendations of Valor for |
| 14 |
| extinguishing a fire and evacuating patients from Highland |
| 15 |
| Hospital in December of 1990 and for an armed encounter in |
| 16 |
| which he saved the life of a Deputy in January of 1996; he was |
| 17 |
| honored as the VFW Officer of the Year; he was also credited |
| 18 |
| with helping to solve a murder investigation in 1987; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Officer Alton Parker Jr.'s dedication to his |
| 20 |
| profession and his willingness to serve his community make him |
| 21 |
| a model for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be |
| 22 |
