| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joey |
| 4 |
| "Joe" Marks of Sullivan, who passed away June 17, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Joe Marks was born March 12, 1956 in Man, West |
| 6 |
| Virginia; he was a son of Jack Maurice and Ada Vernette |
| 7 |
| (Parsons) Marks; he married Glenda Simmering on June 20, 1981 |
| 8 |
| in Sunnyland; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Joe graduated from Rantoul Township High School in |
| 10 |
| 1974; he attended Parkland College and transferred to Eastern |
| 11 |
| Illinois University, graduating in 1979 with a B.S. in |
| 12 |
| Education; his teaching and coaching career at Arcola began |
| 13 |
| when he took over as junior high science teacher; his teaching |
| 14 |
| career spanned junior high and high school sciences, and |
| 15 |
| technology director; he continued his education, receiving his |
| 16 |
| Master's Degree in Education Administration; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Joe was the head football coach at Arcola; Joe |
| 18 |
| left Arcola in 2004 to become the Principal of Sullivan Middle |
| 19 |
| School; he was also working towards his Superintendent's |
| 20 |
| Certificate; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, In his free time, Joe enjoyed his family, bow |
