HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the staff and patrons of the Addison Public Library as they celebrate the grand opening of the new library complex; and

WHEREAS, The new, 54,000-square-foot building at 4 Friendship Plaza cost about $15 million to build; and

WHEREAS, When patrons enter the new library they will find a new cafe, expanded children's area, a new teen area with a more liberal noise policy, new meeting rooms, a two-story art installation, a reading room with a fireplace, and a green roof filled with plants; and

WHEREAS, Once the new library is settled, the move will touch off a domino effect of building changes in the village; the administration offices for DuPage High School District 88 will move from Willowbrook High School into the old library; the old administration offices then will become classrooms; and

WHEREAS, The first activity will be to form a human chain across the plaza to pass the last book, "Addison, Village of Friendship," from the old library to the new; as the line is completed, the book will be passed from one person to the next until it arrives at the front doors of the new building; and

WHEREAS, At that time, the doors will be unlocked; the book will be placed on its new shelf, and the library will be open; tours of the new building and refreshments will be offered; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the staff and patrons of the Addison Public Library and the people of Addison on the new complex and wish them the best as they take advantage of the new library; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the staff of the Addison Public Library as a symbol of our respect.
