HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The highest award the National Council of the Boy 
3
Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout is that of Eagle 
4
Scout; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Timothy Bates of Boy Scout Troop 73, in Grayslake, 
6
will receive the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor soon; 
7
and

 
8
    WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young man 
9
must demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a 
10
willingness to be of help to others, and superior skills in 
11
camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Timothy was successful in planning, making, and 
13
distributing fine motor boards for hand eye coordination to 
14
SEDOL, the Special Education District of Lake County; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Timothy Bates has been in scouting since he joined 
16
as a Tiger Cub in 1996, and has held the position of Senior 
17
Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Assistant 
18
Patrol Leader; and
 

19
    WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Timothy joins an elite 
20
and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among its

members an extraordinary number of this nation's great leaders 
2
in business, government, education, and other sectors of 
3
society; and

    WHEREAS, The achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout 
5
reflects favorably upon the recipient, his parents, his 
6
Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be it 
 
7
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9
join his family and friends in congratulating Timothy Bates 
10
upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, and we commend 
11
him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that is the 
12
hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further

 
13
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to Eagle Scout Timothy Bates as an expression of our 
15
respect and esteem.
