HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Carol Broos on the 
4
occasion of winning a Golden Apple Teaching Award; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Teaching Award was created in 
6
1985 to honor outstanding Chicago-area teachers; the program 
7
has grown into an institution that continues to recognize 
8
gifted teachers, as well as prepare and strengthen teachers who 
9
make a critical difference in the lives of all children, 
10
particularly those from disadvantaged schools; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Carol Broos, a graduate of Northeastern 
12
University, has been teaching fourth through eighth grade music 
13
classes at Sunset Ridge School in Northfield for 20 years; she 
14
encourages creativity and creates an environment for 
15
discovery, opportunity, and expression; she also utilizes 
16
theater and technology to teach her students about music; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, For winning the Golden Apple Teaching Award, Carol 
18
Broos will receive a tuition-free spring-term sabbatical at 
19
Northwestern University, a personal computer from IBM, $3,000, 
20
and membership into the Golden Apple Academy of Educators; and

 
21
    WHEREAS, Carol Broos serves as a model of hard work,

integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
2
Illinois; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5
congratulate Carol Broos on the occasion of winning a Golden 
6
Apple Teaching Award and wish her continued success in the 
7
future; and be it further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to Carol Broos as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
