HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Natalie 
4
Neris-Guereca on the occasion of winning a Golden Apple 
5
Teaching Award; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Golden Apple Teaching Award was created in 
7
1985 to honor outstanding Chicago-area teachers; the program 
8
has grown into an institution that continues to recognize 
9
gifted teachers, as well as prepare and strengthen teachers who 
10
make a critical difference in the lives of all children, 
11
particularly those from disadvantaged schools; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Natalie Neris-Guereca, a graduate of Northeastern 
13
University, teaches fifth grade at Pershing West Magnet School 
14
on
Chicago's South Side; she exhibits empathy for and 
15
confidence in her students, which helps them realize their 
16
potential to succeed in life; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, For winning the Golden Apple Teaching Award, 
18
Natalie Neris-Guereca will receive a tuition-free spring-term 
19
sabbatical at Northwestern University, a personal computer 
20
from IBM, $3,000, and membership into the Golden Apple Academy 
21
of Educators; and

    WHEREAS, Natalie Neris-Guereca serves as a model of hard 
2
work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
3
Illinois; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
congratulate Natalie Neris-Guereca on the occasion of winning a 
7
Golden Apple Teaching Award and wish her continued success in 
8
the future; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Natalie Neris-Guereca as a symbol of our esteem 
11
and respect.
