HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Lt. Henry Pauls II of the Charleston Police Department on the occasion of his retirement after more than 28 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Lt. Henry Pauls II began his career with the Charleston Police Department on May 1, 1980; he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August of 1989, then to the position of Lieutenant in December of 1996; and

WHEREAS, Lt. Henry Pauls II has specialized in Hostage Negotiation and Electronic Surveillance Technologies for the Charleston Police Department; he has assumed the responsibility of Evidence Custodian since 2006 and has served as President of the Coles County Meth Coalition since 2006; he has also been instrumentally involved as an adviser to the Coles County Drug Court and has played a critical role in the court's success in the county; and

WHEREAS, Lt. Henry Pauls II was awarded a "Life Savers Award" by the Charleston Police Department in 2004 for his involvement in rescuing a young woman who had overturned her vehicle into dangerously high waters on December 3, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Lt. Henry Pauls II and his wife, Debra, have six children, Katherine, Emily, Alicia, Morgan, Justin, and Tyler, and three grandchildren, Creighton, Caitlyn, and Spencer; and

WHEREAS, Lt. Henry Pauls II serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lt. Henry Pauls II on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lt. Henry Pauls II as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
