HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The staff of the Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center in Northbrook will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the facility on August 22, 2008; and

WHEREAS, The Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center (GBN) offers an environment rich in resources that make it a cut above other facilities; these amenities help nurture children and their families and create an atmosphere that optimizes learning; and

WHEREAS, The Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center's state-of-the-art facility was built specifically to be a child care and learning center; it includes large, open classrooms and the overall architecture is light and airy; and

WHEREAS, The mission of the Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center is to aspire to establish a partnership with families to support their children's development and serve as a model for quality early childhood education; and

WHEREAS, The Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children; it is a not-for-profit private child care corporation; it partners with colleges and universities as an internship site for their students; and it believes in involving parents as partners in their child's growth; and

WHEREAS, Children from the ages of six weeks old to the kindergarten years are welcome at the Center; their artwork is displayed for all to see, and there are plants, an aviary and aquarium, and other items to stimulate young minds; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the staff of the Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center on this anniversary occasion; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lana Weiner, Executive Director of the Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center.
