HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James "Jim" Bernhard of West Frankfort, who passed away on August 4, 2008; and

WHEREAS, James Bernhard was born on June 6, 1935 in West Frankfort; his parents were Stephen and Regina (Harr) Bernhard; he married Judith Woods on October 15, 1955; and

WHEREAS, James Bernhard served as a member of the Frankfort Community Unit District 168 School Board; he served several terms as a West Frankfort city councilman and as West Frankfort's Street Commissioner; he also served on the Rend Lake Conservancy Board; and

WHEREAS, James Bernhard was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in West Frankfort; he was a charter member of Knights of Columbus and a member of the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge in West Frankfort, and UMWA 2250; and

WHEREAS, James Bernhard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles; his sisters, Susan Baumann and Betty Eadie; and his grandson, Michael Dale Smith Jr.; and

WHEREAS, James Bernhard is survived by his wife, Judy Bernhard; his daughters, Jayma and Gary Tucker, Jill and Ed Blades, and Joni and Mike Smith; his grandchildren, Tara Wilce, Allyson Tucker, Jimmy Blades, and Morgan, Ty, Garrett, and Drew Smith; his brothers, Steve, Ted, and George Bernhard; his sisters, Mary Louise Stocker, Jean Walsh, and Carolyn Knottleson; his many nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Sassy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of James "Jim" Bernhard; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James "Jim" Bernhard as an expression of our sympathy.
