| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to recognize milestones in the |
| 4 |
| lives of the citizens of Illinois; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Erma Schanafelt will celebrate her 98th birthday |
| 6 |
| on November 10, 2008; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Erma was married to Keith Schanafelt and had 3 |
| 8 |
| children, Ted, Kay, and Dixie; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Erma has been active in Democrat politics in |
| 10 |
| Marion County for over eighty years; she cast her first |
| 11 |
| Democratic vote for President Franklin D. Roosevelt and has |
| 12 |
| been voting Democratic ever since; she served as Chairwoman of |
| 13 |
| the Marion County Democratic Central Committee as well as |
| 14 |
| serving as Precinct Committewoman for several decades; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Each year, she participates in the Little Egypt |
| 16 |
| Festival and the Soldiers and Sailors benefits; she continues |
| 17 |
| to ride on Democratic Party floats in parades, attend political |
| 18 |
| events, and support her party; therefore, be it
|
| 19 |
