HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Rubin Lopez of 
4
Chicago on the occasion of his 80th birthday on September 26, 
5
2008; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Rubin Lopez was born on September 26, 1928 in 
7
Chicago; he was the oldest of the six children of Daniel and 
8
Elisa (Gracian) Lopez; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Rubin Lopez married Jeanine Hill in 1952; 
10
together, they have seven children, Rory, Margarita (Sue), 
11
Daniel, Rubin, James, Paul, and Kevin; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Rubin Lopez has lived on the southeast side of 
13
Chicago his entire life and attended Tilden High School; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, Rubin Lopez joined the United States Marine Corps 
15
in 1946; after serving two years, he was placed in the 
16
reserves; in 1951, he was called back to active duty during the 
17
Korean Conflict; he was discharged in 1952, having achieved the 
18
rank of Sergeant; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Rubin Lopez worked at the Illinois Central train 
20
station, the Studebaker manufacturing plant, Ringsby United

Trucking, and the Carstensen Trucking Company, while raising 
2
his children at the same time; and

 
3
    WHEREAS, Rubin Lopez enjoys Notre Dame football, horse 
4
racing, airplanes (particularly historic military aircraft), 
5
and, most of all, his family; and
 
6
    WHEREAS, Rubin Lopez has fourteen grandchildren and six 
7
great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

 
8
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10
congratulate Rubin Lopez of Chicago on the occasion of his 80th 
11
birthday and wish him many happy and healthy years to come; and 
12
be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to Rubin Lopez as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
