HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Zion Fire Rescue 
4
Department Battalion Chief Mike Stried on his retirement, July 
5
6, 2008; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, He joined the Zion Fire Rescue Department in 1975 
7
and rose through the ranks to become Battalion Chief; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, He served Zion Fire Rescue Department as a 
9
Training Officer, Shift Commander, Divemaster, and Fire 
10
Prevention Bureau Director; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He received a Bachelor's degree in 2003 from 
12
Southern Illinois University in Fire Service Management; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, He is a 2006 graduate of the National Fire 
14
Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program, where he now serves 
15
as a member of faculty as an instructor; and he is ranked as a 
16
State of Illinois Fire Officer III; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Mike Stried is married to Roxanne; his children 
18
are Justin (Heather) Stried, Gary (Mandy) McDowell, and Kristi 
19
(Dan) Rapin; his grandchildren are Cody, Auden, and Henry, who 
20
is also a Lieutenant on the Zion Fire Rescue Department; and

his parents are Robert and Grace Stried; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4
congratulate Battalion Chief Mike Stried on his retirement and 
5
wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

 
6
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7
presented to Mike Stried as a symbol of our respect.
