| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to thank Lee Dungey for his dedicated |
| 4 |
| service to his nation during World War II; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Lee Dungey entered active service with the U.S. |
| 6 |
| Marine Corps on March 16, 1944; after training at the Marine |
| 7 |
| Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, he was assigned |
| 8 |
| to the Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion of the 5th |
| 9 |
| Marine Division for training at Camp Tarawa, Hawaii in support |
| 10 |
| of troops on Iwo Jima; following the battle's end, he |
| 11 |
| participated in the occupation of the Japanese mainland until |
| 12 |
| June 26, 1946, when he was honorably discharged with the rank |
| 13 |
| of Corporal; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge, Lee Dungey |
| 15 |
| returned to his pervious employer, Furnas Electric Company in |
| 16 |
| Batavia, where he retired after 46 years of service; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Lee Dungey is a member of the Marine Corps League |
| 18 |
| (Fox Valley Detachment 1233) and the American Legion in |
| 19 |
| Batavia; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Lee Dungey and his wife of 67 years, Laura, have |
| 21 |
| five children, eight grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; |
