| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the students, |
| 4 |
| staff, and faculty of Ellis Elementary School in Belleville on |
| 5 |
| the occasion of the school being named a No Child Left Behind |
| 6 |
| Blue Ribbon School; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon School |
| 8 |
| Program honors public and private K-12 schools that either |
| 9 |
| perform academically superior in their State or demonstrate |
| 10 |
| dramatic gains in student achievement; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Since 1982, the United States Department of |
| 12 |
| Education has annually sought out schools where students attain |
| 13 |
| and maintain high academic goals by utilizing standards of |
| 14 |
| excellence evidenced by student achievement measures and the |
| 15 |
| characteristics known from research to epitomize school |
| 16 |
| quality in order to celebrate schools that beat the odds; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools have set |
| 18 |
| a standard of excellence for schools across the United States |
| 19 |
| through commitment, high energy, research-based knowledge of |
| 20 |
| what methods are best utilized, and the results of quality |
| 21 |
| assessments; and
|

| WHEREAS, Out of only 320 schools in the nation recognized |
| 2 |
| as a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School, and of the 21 |
| 3 |
| schools recognized in the State of Illinois, the Ellis |
| 4 |
| Elementary School in Belleville was the only school recognized |
| 5 |
| in the southern illinois region, a testament to the school's |
| 6 |
| unwavering commitment to quality education; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The students, parents, faculty, and staff of the |
| 8 |
| Ellis Elementary School in Belleville should be proud of the |
| 9 |
| school's incredible success and the standards that they have |
| 10 |
| set forth for the schools of this State and the nation at |
| 11 |
| large; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 14 |
| congratulate the students, staff, and faculty of Ellis |
| 15 |
| Elementary School on the occasion of the school being named a |
| 16 |
| No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School and wish them continued |
| 17 |
| success and happiness in the future; and be it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

| presented to Pam Leonard, principal of Ellis Elementary School, |
