HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  
3
Representatives are pleased to honor Keith Schoen of Glen Ellyn 
4
for his many years of dedicated volunteer service; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Keith Schoen is a long-time Rotarian; he has 
6
served as park district commissioner for 20 years and a 
7
softball committee member for 30 years; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Keith Schoen has a long history of volunteer 
9
service, particularly with the Glen Ellyn Park District; among 
10
his accomplishments are the replacement of 16 playgrounds;
the 
11
renovation of most parks in Glen Ellyn, including the addition 
12
of a football field, press box, and sledding hill to Newton 
13
Park; the purchasing, improvement, and development of land for 
14
Maryknoll Park, a popular family destination in Glen Ellyn; the 
15
expansion of Churchill Park by 11 acres, improvements to its 
16
wetlands, and the construction of a pavilion and trails; the 
17
construction of fields and concessions at Ackerman Park, in 
18
addition to breaking ground in November of 2008 for a new 
19
sports complex; the leasing of Village Green Park from the 
20
Village of Glen Ellyn, and the addition of new ball fields, a 
21
pavilion, and a playground; the construction of a new pool at 
22
Sunset Park; the acquisition and renovation of the Spring 
23
Avenue Recreation Center; and many successful referendums,

most recently in the fall of 2006, to enable the park district 
2
to renovate Main Street Recreation Center, purchase open space, 
3
and construct a new sports complex in Ackerman Park; and

 
4
    WHEREAS, In honor of his many years of volunteering, the 
5
Glen Ellyn Park District unveiled a park bench bearing a plaque 
6
engraved with Keith Schoen's name that will be installed in a 
7
softball field at Ackerman Park; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Keith Schoen serves as a model of hard work, 
9
integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
10
Illinois; therefore, be it

 
11
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
honor Keith Schoen for his volunteer service and wish him the 
14
best in his future endeavors; and be it further

 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to Keith Schoen as a symbol of our esteem and 
17
respect.
