HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jessie Denson on 
4
the occasion of her retirement as Missionary President of the 
5
Women's Ministries of the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago 
6
after more than 30 years of dedicated service; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Jessie Denson, born Jessie Mae Foster, came to 
8
Chicago from Americus, Georgia in 1947; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Hard working and determined, Jessie Denson was 
10
employed in the lithograph industry and built her life based 
11
upon the Word of God; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Jessie Denson attended the Apostolic Faith Church 
13
under the pastorate of Bishop John S. Holly and was baptized 
14
and filled with the Holy Ghost; while there, she served with 
15
the young missionaries, sang in the choir, led the church's 
16
young people in praise service, and helped out wherever she was 
17
needed; and

    WHEREAS, While attending the Apostolic Faith Church, 
19
Jessie Denson met and married Willie Denson; together, they had 
20
four children, Denise, Karen Jacquelyn, Angela, and Billy; and

    WHEREAS, Jessie Denson was employed with Cook County for 28 
2
years; she worked for 17 years in the Treasurer's office, then 
3
was promoted to Jury Supervisor, where she worked for 10 years 
4
until her retirement; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Jessie Denson has served tirelessly in Chicago's 
6
8th Ward, canvassing and encouraging her community to take part 
7
in their right as a citizen to vote; and
 
8
    WHEREAS, Jessie Denson currently attends the Apostolic 
9
Church of God in Chicago, where she has served in the kitchen, 
10
worked with the women, and has been appointed to serve as 
11
Missionary President, where she served until her retirement; 
12
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
14
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
15
congratulate Jessie Denson on the occasion of her retirement 
16
and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it 
17
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to Jessie Denson as a symbol of our esteem and 
20
respect.
