| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to recognize State Representative |
| 4 |
| Ruth Munson on her hard work and service to the people of the |
| 5 |
| State of Illinois; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Ruth Munson has served as State Representative |
| 7 |
| since her appointment in December of 2002 to complete the term |
| 8 |
| of the late State Representative Doug Hoeft; she was elected |
| 9 |
| twice (2004 and 2006) to serve the residents of the 43rd |
| 10 |
| district; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, As the mother of two children Representative |
| 12 |
| Munson understands the concerns of parents and has worked in |
| 13 |
| the community to enhance after-school programs by creating the |
| 14 |
| Northern Fox Valley AfterSchool & Beyond Network; she has also |
| 15 |
| introduced legislation to protect families from gang crime and |
| 16 |
| passed tough new laws to keep kids safe from Internet |
| 17 |
| predators; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, In addition, she worked to pass legislation |
| 19 |
| creating "fast-growth" grants for school districts that |
| 20 |
| experience growing enrollment; she helped in the creation of |
| 21 |
| the Social Security Number Protection Task Force to prevent |
| 22 |
| identity theft; in 2008 she helped pass legislation that |
|

| protects social security number and other personal |
| 2 |
| information; and
|
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, She also won reforms for residents in manufactured |
| 4 |
| home communities; she recognized the implications of the |
| 5 |
| restructuring of Stroger Hospital and its affects on healthcare |
| 6 |
| for residents of Kane County; she aided in the creation of the |
| 7 |
| Health Access Network to provide access to quality specialty |
| 8 |
| healthcare services for families in need; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Munson created and now leads the |
| 10 |
| Illinois Legislative Manufacturing Caucus toward its mission |
| 11 |
| of keeping good paying jobs in the State of Illinois; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Munson received her Bachelor of |
| 13 |
| Arts degree in Political Science from Northern Illinois |
| 14 |
| University in 1981; she was elected to the Elgin City Council |
| 15 |
| in 1999; she and her husband, Steve, reside in Elgin and are |
| 16 |
| the parents of two college-age children; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, While serving in the General Assembly, she was a |
| 18 |
| member of the Bio-Technology Committee and Computer Technology |
| 19 |
| Committee, serving as Republican Spokesperson for both, the |
| 20 |
| Appropriations-Human Services Committee, the Elementary and |
| 21 |
| Secondary Education Committee, the Insurance Committee, the |
| 22 |
| International Trade and Commerce Committee, the Pension Fund |

| Management Committee, the Tollway Oversight Committee, and the |
| 2 |
| Legislative Information System Committee; therefore, be it
|
| 3 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 4 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 5 |
| congratulate Representative Ruth Munson on her retirement from |
| 6 |
| the Illinois House of Representatives and wish her the best in |
| 7 |
| her future endeavors; and be it further
|
| 8 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 9 |
| presented to Representative Ruth Munson as a symbol of our |
| 10 |
| respect and esteem.
