| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate our esteemed |
| 4 |
| colleague, Illinois State Representative Aaron Schock, on the |
| 5 |
| occasion of his succession to the position of United States |
| 6 |
| Representative of Illinois' 18th District; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Schock was born in Peoria on |
| 8 |
| May 28, 1981; he grew up in central Illinois with his brother |
| 9 |
| and two sisters; after graduating from Richwoods High School in |
| 10 |
| Peoria, he was elected to serve as a member of the Peoria |
| 11 |
| Public Schools District 150 school board, making him, at the |
| 12 |
| age of 19, the youngest person to serve on a school board in |
| 13 |
| the State, defeating the incumbent school president as a |
| 14 |
| write-in candidate; after serving on the board for two years, |
| 15 |
| he was elected to be the board's vice president by his fellow |
| 16 |
| board members; a year later, he was elected to serve as school |
| 17 |
| board president, making him what is believed to be the youngest |
| 18 |
| school board president in United State history; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Schock received his |
| 20 |
| bachelor's degree from Bradley University; after earning his |
| 21 |
| degree, he ran for the office of Illinois State Representative, |
| 22 |
| defeating an eight-year incumbent, making him the youngest |
| 23 |
| member of the Illinois House of Representatives; and
|

| WHEREAS, Once again, showing his remarkable dedication and |
| 2 |
| intense work ethic, Representative Aaron Schock was able to |
| 3 |
| work 11 of his bills to passage during his first 5 months in |
| 4 |
| office, including bills regarding education reforms, child |
| 5 |
| protection initiatives, prescription drug savings, veterans |
| 6 |
| assistance, road construction, and a bill to combat high-tech |
| 7 |
| identity theft, the first bill of its kind in the nation; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, As a member of the Illinois House of |
| 9 |
| Representatives, Representative Aaron Schock has served on |
| 10 |
| several committees, including the Appropriations-Elementary |
| 11 |
| and Secondary Education, Appropriations-Human Services, |
| 12 |
| Environment and Energy, Financial Institutions, Gaming, and |
| 13 |
| Veterans Affairs committees; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, After a hard-fought campaign, Representative |
| 15 |
| Aaron Schock will now succeed Congressman Ray LaHood to serve |
| 16 |
| as the Illinois 18th District Congressman, a position that he |
| 17 |
| will no doubt pursue with the same vigor and intensity that has |
| 18 |
| brought him to the great heights of success he has already |
| 19 |
| enjoyed; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
