| AN ACT concerning health.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Hearing Screening for Newborns Act is |
| 5 |
| amended by adding Section 18 as follows: |
| 6 |
| (410 ILCS 213/18 new)

| Sec. 18. Fees. The Department of Public Health may levy |
| 8 |
| fees to cover the cost of maintaining the registry and |
| 9 |
| conducting the follow-up services specified in this Act. Fees |
| 10 |
| levied for this purpose shall be deposited into the Newborn |
| 11 |
| Hearing Screening Administration, Tracking, and Follow-up |
| 12 |
| Fund. Other State and federal funds for expenses related to |
| 13 |
| newborn hearing screening, follow-up, professional education, |
| 14 |
| treatment, or other services related to newborn hearing |
| 15 |
| services may also be deposited into the Fund. The amount of |
| 16 |
| funds provided through the fee shall not exceed the amount |
| 17 |
| necessary to fully achieve the intent of the Act. The Newborn |
| 18 |
| Hearing Screening Administration, Tracking, and Follow-up Fund |
| 19 |
| is created as a special fund in the State treasury. All money |
| 20 |
| in the Fund shall be used, subject to appropriation, by the |
| 21 |
| Department of Public Health, the Department of Human Services, |
| 22 |
| and the University of Illinois at Chicago Division of |
| 23 |
| Specialized Care for Children solely for the purposes of |
