1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Sections 3-680 and 3-681 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/3-680 new)
7     Sec. 3-680. U.S. Army Veteran license plates.
8     (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the
9 Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications
10 made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may
11 issue U.S. Army Veteran license plates to residents of Illinois
12 who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the Secretary
13 of State. The special U.S. Army Veteran plate issued under this
14 Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the
15 first division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second
16 division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued
17 under this Section shall expire according to the staggered
18 multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this
19 Code.
20     (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be
21 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The
22 Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be
23 issued as vanity or personalized plates in accordance with

1 Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to
2 designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of
3 Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe the
4 eligibility requirements and, in his or her discretion, shall
5 approve and prescribe stickers or decals as provided under
6 Section 3-412.
7     (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original
8 issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. This
9 additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State
10 Special License Plate Fund. For each registration renewal
11 period, a $2 fee, in addition to the applicable registration
12 fee, shall be charged and shall be deposited into the Secretary
13 of State Special License Plate Fund.

15     Sec. 3-681. U.S. Navy license plates.
16     (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the

20 meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the Secretary of

4 other respects, the design, color, and format of the plates
5 shall be within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The
6 Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be
7 issued as vanity or personalized plates in accordance with
8 Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to
9 designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of
10 Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe the
11 eligibility requirements and, in his or her discretion, shall
12 approve and prescribe stickers or decals as provided under
13 Section 3-412.
