| AN ACT concerning energy.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Alternate Fuels Act is amended by changing |
5 |
| Section 5 as follows:
|

| Sec. 5. Purpose. The
The General Assembly declares that
it |
8 |
| is the public policy of the State to promote and encourage
the |
9 |
| use of alternate fuel in vehicles as a means to improve air
|
10 |
| quality in the State and to meet the requirements of the |
11 |
| federal
Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 and the federal Energy |
12 |
| Policy
Act of 1992. The General Assembly further declares that |
13 |
| the
State can play a leadership role in the development of |
14 |
| vehicles
powered by alternate fuels, as well as in the |
15 |
| establishment of
the necessary infrastructure to support this |
16 |
| emerging technology. |
