Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. In provisions concerning a workgroup formed by the Department of Healthcare and Family Services in connection with Medicaid nursing home rates, provides that the workgroup shall oversee the implementation of (instead of implement) a reimbursement methodology based upon the federally
mandated resident assessment instrument. Provides that the workgroup shall meet at the call of the Director of Healthcare and Family Services. Provides that the workgroup shall prepare additional recommendations as requested.

| AN ACT concerning public aid.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 |
| changing Section 5-5.21 as follows:
|

| (305 ILCS 5/5-5.21)
|

| Sec. 5-5.21. Reimbursement methodology. The Department |
8 |
| shall form a
workgroup comprised of representatives of the |
9 |
| Department, the Illinois
Department of Public Health, and |
10 |
| members of the long-term care provider
community to oversee the |
11 |
| implementation of implement a reimbursement methodology based |
12 |
| upon the federally
mandated resident assessment instrument. |
13 |
| The workgroup shall meet at the call of the Director. No later |
14 |
| than January 1, 1997, the
Illinois Department in conjunction |
15 |
| with the work group will recommend to the
Governor a |
16 |
| methodology for determining payment
rates for services in |
17 |
| nursing facilities based upon the federally mandated
resident |
18 |
| assessment instrument and shall prepare additional |
19 |
| recommendations as requested .
No later than June 30, 1997, the |
20 |
| Illinois Department
shall implement
a methodology for |
21 |
| determining payment rates for services in nursing facilities
|
22 |
| based upon federal requirements.
