| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2693

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2693 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Section 3-202.05 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (210 ILCS 45/3-202.05 new)
| ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 3-202.05. Automated external defibrillator required. | ||||||
| 8 | No later than one year after the effective date of this | ||||||
| 9 | amendatory Act of the 95th General Assembly, a facility must do | ||||||
| 10 | all of the following: | ||||||
| 11 | (1) Acquire at least one automated external | ||||||
| 12 | defibrillator ("AED"), which shall be maintained in a | ||||||
| 13 | central location within the facility that shall be made | ||||||
| 14 | known and available to the employees of the facility. | ||||||
| 15 | (2) Ensure that the AED is tested and maintained in | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | accordance with the Automated External Defibrillator Act, | ||||||
| 2 | and provide notification to the appropriate first aid, | ||||||
| 3 | ambulance or rescue squad, or other appropriate emergency | ||||||
| 4 | medical services provider regarding the AED, the type of | ||||||
| 5 | AED acquired, and its location in the facility. | ||||||
| 6 | (3) Arrange for training in cardio-pulmonary | ||||||
| 7 | resuscitation and the use of the AED for employees of the | ||||||
| 8 | facility in accordance with the Automated External | ||||||
| 9 | Defibrillator Act. | ||||||
| 10 | (4) Ensure that employees of the facility comply with | ||||||
| 11 | any other rules of the Department concerning the use of the | ||||||
| 12 | AED. | ||||||
| 13 | As used in this Section, "automated external | ||||||
| 14 | defibrillator" has the meaning attributed to that term in the | ||||||
| 15 | Automated External Defibrillator Act.".
