| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |

| learn of the death of Louis Perkins of Alton, who passed away |
4 |
| on December 5, 2006; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Louis Perkins was born on August 11, 1932; his |
6 |
| parents were Cora Scott-Harris and Arnold Scott; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, He attended the Edwardsville and Alton public |
8 |
| schools; and he served in the United States Air Force; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Louis Perkins was a bricklayer for Laclede Steel |
10 |
| for 33 years, retiring in 1995; and he worked for 10 years as a |
11 |
| security guard at Lewis and Clark Community College; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Louis Perkins is survived by his mother, Cora; his |
13 |
| ex-wives, Lena Simpson Perkins and Eva Smith Perkins; his sons, |
14 |
| Joseph Simpson, Louis R. Perkins, and Charles C. Perkins; his |
15 |
| stepson, Lamont Smith; his daughters, Janie Couselt, Deborah |
16 |
| (Ronald) Betts, and Mary "Penny" Perkins; his five |
17 |
| grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his sisters, |
18 |
| Carolyn Fields, Phyllis (Henry) Moore, Virginia Marie Perkins, |
19 |
| Sallie (Albert) Wilkerson, and Edna Perkins; his stepsister, |
20 |
| Tyra Taylor; his special friend, Orville D. Johnson; his |
21 |
| special cousin, Myrtle Ahart; and his nieces, nephews, cousins, |
