| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
| 3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Elmer E. |
| 4 |
| "Buzz" Emerson, who passed away on October 30, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Emerson was retired from the United States |
| 6 |
| Navy, serving as a Lieutenant for 21 years in active duty and |
| 7 |
| naval reserve time; he served in both World War II and the |
| 8 |
| Korean War; Mr. Emerson was a survivor of the attack on Pearl |
| 9 |
| Harbor, serving aboard the U.S.S. San Francisco; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Emerson worked in the area of human resources |
| 11 |
| at 3M, Whirlpool, Abbott Laboratories, Masonite, and |
| 12 |
| Harper-Wyman; he retired as Vice-President of Human Resources |
| 13 |
| of the Evangelical Hospital Association (now Advocate Health |
| 14 |
| Care); and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Elmer E. "Buzz" Emerson served in community |
| 16 |
| organizations, including Friends of the Library, S.A.L.T. |
| 17 |
| (Seniors and Legal Together), and the Community Services Block |
| 18 |
| Grant advisory board of DuPage County; he was active in the |
| 19 |
| First Presbyterian Church of Downers Grove, serving in the role |
| 20 |
| of elder, deacon, and trustee; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, He will be remembered for his social work, which |
